
Rigger
This course is designed for all persons involved in attaching or detaching lifting equipment to loads and using hoists, as well as those qualifying as crane operators.This course satisfies requirements IAW API RP 2D - 7th Edition. Participants will receive practical training in participating in a site review and lift load planning. They will wear required PPE, inspect gear to be used, and perform crane load rigging with crane operation. An instructor will supervise and give directions utilizing an on-site speaker system, and participants will rig and move several lifts requiring various hitches and signals, giving clear and correct signals to the operator.Topics Covered
- Provide familiarity with rigging equipment and follow recommended rigging practices to perform safely in a working environment.
- Understand how to identify the load and determine the weight of lift.
- Understand the various hand signals associated with rigging and how and when to use them.
- Know how to inspect and dispose of rigging gear and equipment.
- Recognize the need and purpose of proper lift planning, to eliminate the potential of an accident.
- Become aware of and understand all regulations and safe operating practices.
